Well, I just became a member of NFCU 2 weeks ago. I got approved for a refinance with them. Like others, I had horrible credit at one point and financed a car at 18% - on top of rolling in about 6k negative equity. It wasn't the smartest of things to do...but I couldn't afford $500 a month in gas (I spend roughly $180 a month now and commute twice the distance) I made payments on it for about a year @628/mo and only knocked off 2k principal lol. When I applied to NFCU I was prepared to have to pay about 3k on the loan to get approved since I had heard they only approved 120% LTV. Well, to my surprise, that wasn't the case for me. I was approved for the full amount which is roughly 140% LTV according to clean NADA. I dropped my payments to $430/mo with my interest being 6%.
Just thought I would share.

Good news! May I ask what your FICO was at the time of inital purchase and now with your refi with Navy?
I just applied and was denied. $27K at 60 months. Guess my credit score is still too low.
