Hi, I have been reading several threads in all forums to try and educate myself as much as possible. I am trying to buy a car within the next 6 months if possible. I need some help with what steps I need to take next to help improve my chances.
Current FICO Scores:
Before Current
Equifax 528 645
Trans 547 603
Exper 598 644
1 collection on 3 reports (this is directv showing on all 3)
2 negatives on revolving accounts (one negative is a cap. one card that just charged off/closed in 2013 and the other is a first premier from 2011that is charged off)
I guess my question is what should I do first to help improve my chances in buying a car. I have been working really hard to improve my score. I was able to get a signature loan from my credit union and also was approved for a credit card from my credit union. I was approved for a retail card as well.
Thanks for anyone and everyone that can help me out. I posted this in the rebuilding thread and had no responses. I'm hoping someone can guide me in the right direction here.
I would add another credit card.
have you checked pre-qual offers for capital one?
might be a good time to snag discover, they seem to love starting to rebuild people that haven't applied for a bunch of stuff yet.
is the collection ""paid"?
how about the chargeoffs, paid?
I did the pre-qual for cap one and showed I was pre-qual for quicksilver and platinum, when I submitted the full app. i was denied.
The charge off or the collection are not paid. I was planning on sending a PFD to each of them?
ok, so I had seen on another post where they disputed a directv collection for proof of contract. I tried this on Experian and Transunion. I just received notice from Experian that the collection will be deleted...woohoo. I am so happy. That is the only collection on all 3 reports. So if it's deleted from one report will it automatically get deleted from the othere two. Also, when should I see this hit my score?
Thank you. I will have to go into Equifax to do that now.
UPDATE:
The Directv collection has now been deleted from all 3 CB. I am still not seeing a change or a report to my score. I am currently enrolled in ScoreWatch through myFICO and I thought I would see a change by now from Experian since they deleted it earlier this week? Any thoughts?
Not yet, I am planning on doing that early next week. I was waiting to get the collection off in hopes that it would improve my chances.
