Hi guys, I have some used car questions that I have in mind.
So I'm 18 and recently started college this year and I'm looking for a used car.
I've been looking at the 2010 Honda Civic and I feel like it's the best car for me since my 08' camry got totaled last year.
My credit scores I checked recently are EX: 717 TU: 736 EQ: 735
I'm planning to put 2-3k on a down payment for the '10 Civic that I'm planning to get next month (Oct)
I just don't know what the next step should be..Should I go apply for a auto loan? Or just get financed at the dealership?
Thinking about applying for a loan at BOA which is my bank and Cap One if I have to.
What do you guys think that I should do? Plus I feel like my credit history is a little thin because i recently starting building credit couple months ago.
(hence why I'm a student)
.
You should apply for financing before shopping for the car. The biggest concern is that you wont qualify because of your thin file. Keep in mind, a high score doesn't always mean approval.
I would suggest applying at Cap One and/or credit unions. Then try at the dealership and try to get them to beat youre rate if your approved. Income might also be another issue.
Consider a co-signer if you cannot get approved on your own.
