Re: New Car or Not???

Check with a trusted independent mechanic on what they will charge for an air compressor. Should be much cheaper than the dealer.

Re: New Car or Not???

I would write chevy and the dealer a nasty letter, the air compressor shouldn't go on a car for 8-10 years at least, my car is 14 years old and never needed to be replaced yet.

Although I agree mostly with your statement, good luck with the dealership getting to do anything for you on an 8-10 year old part.  My Accord has been the most reliable vehicle I've owned, but I've replaced the compressor once and had the clutch replaced another time and it just hit 10 years old.

I called a friend of my who manages the sales department and told him about how much they were charging me for the ac compressor. He called over to the service department and he had them cut the price down to $520.

Woo hoo! They gave me a loaner and were done in a day and half.
