New DCU member!

I finally bit the bullet and joined DCU.  I've been wanting to refinance my 2013 Ford to get a better rate.  I'm at 3.7% from Ford with 40 months left on a 60 month note.  When I was accepted on-line at DCU last night, I got an automatic preapproval for a 25K auto loan but I didn't check the box.  I believe I have 45 days to apply with the initial hard pull I know they did because of the security questions with my app.  No way they could have asked me that stuff without having one of my credit reports. They did show me their best rate is 1.49%.  I guess I'm getting over the hard pull blues this morning, but it was inevitable if I'm going to refi anyway.  I had forgotten about the monthly Fico score though.  At least that's one perk I can  look forward to.  Now I just have to sit and wait for the membership stuff to start showing up.  I got the overdraft free checking and the Visa debit card too.  Won't really need it though.  Just trying to get set up for the car loan.

Re: New DCU member!

DCU pulls twice. One for membership and one for loan products. I just did this in July. You could if you chose, use the car loan pull to also apply for a cc. Do a search on this forum and you'll see, it's one of the quirks of DCU -- the two hard pull thing. Did someone at DCU tell you you had 45 days to use the same pull? If so, lucky you.

Re: New DCU member!

Thanks Bluedog.  I sure didn't know about the two pulls.  I read on here somewhere where someone called in and was told the pull was good for 45 days.  Maybe that wasn't for the initial pull though.  I don't remember.  I can't even log in yet until I get the password in the mail.  It will probably be about a week I guess until my membership stuff is completed by what I've been reading.  Really not after a cc.  My util. is high right now, but I just paid one of them off and it hasn't reported yet.  I might end of trading my car back in along with my truck, and Ford has some 0% promo stuff going on now along with some deep discounts on the 2014's..  So I'm sort of up in the air.  Just wanted to get the CU lined up before I got started so I go in the door with my financing in my pocket.

Re: New DCU member!

I think they meant the pull on the loan... As in he's approved for a certain amount, But it must be used within 45 days or else they need to pull again.
