New auto loan???

How hard do you think it would be to get an auto loan on a new or slightly used vehicle. My fico score is somewhere in the low 600-630 range. I have no negatives on my credit, but do have a 36% utilization. I didn't want to have to get a car yet, but mine just died, and I have to have a car to get to work.

Re: New auto loan???

You’ll be able to get a loan if you have the down payment. It’s just what interest rate. And what dealers will for you. It’s a secured loan and they get the car if you don’t pay. Try going online and prequalifying for a few to get an idea of how dealers see you.

Re: New auto loan???

I would suggest trying to get pre-approved through Cap One and get an idea of what rates you are looking at.

Are you sure you have no other negatives? I would think your scores should be a bit higher even with 36% utilization, there may be another issue going on there.

No negatives at all on my reports.....it's all just new credit. I was approved for a car loan. I tried Capital One and was preapproved for an $18500 loan with 14.69%interest, I ended up getting my car loan through GM Financial and ended up with a rate of 13.01%. My insurance company State Farm says that in 6 months, they will see if I can qualify for refinancing through them. This was my first car loan, which I am in my 50's and never had credit until a few years ago....always paid cash for everything.  My credit AAoA is only 2 years 3 months. I have a lot of new credit.....my oldest account is almost 4 years old and my newest was 3 months old. I have 47 accounts all in good standing, 44 of them are 2 years or over. And I have 4 accounts that were closed by me. Between inquiries and new credit, that's what is keeping my scores down.....I figure within the next year or so, I should be around the 700 mark if, not better.
