Paying off c/o lease before applying for new loan

I need some advice before I seriously begin shopping for auto loans.  Back in 2016 I completed my least from Acura but got hit with $4k in "small" damages and excess mileage.  A few months ago they sent me a settlement offer of about @$2.3k that I am seriously considering.  My parents gave me their car so I haven't taken out a loan since I turned in my lease. Question...if I decide to settle can I ask Honda to delete the baddies or do you think I should just pay the settlement and move on? My goal is to get an APR closer to 10% with my credit union.

I did an application last night through Road Loans and was approved for $17k with a crazy ass APR of 23%! No way in hell am I taking that but they did say that my auto lease had an impact.

Currently my Eq score is 585; TU 600; and Exp 646.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Are these your current Fico Auto-enhanced scores? I would check with Capital One Auto Navigator and see what they pre-approve you with. As far as the settlement offer I'll allow other's with more knowledge/experience answer that. I would say ask them to delete the deragatory remarks upon payment but I don't know that they'd do that or if that's even a possibility. Either way I would probably take care of it if it were me, wether they remove the derog comments or not.
