Question about denial (not your average question)

I applied for a car loan and was denied, not a big deal as my credit is rebounding after BK.  But my question concerns the fact that dealership told this information to my friend (who was not on the credit app) and not myself.  Is this even legal?  I am leaning towards no but need case law to back it up.   Any help?

Need a little more information. How did the dealer communicate this to your friend? Is there a paper trail?

There are some privacy laws that likely apply but this would be dificult to pursue. On top of that it could cost you the friendship depending how far you try to take things.
