Question on which score will be used.

So I have am considering getting a new or used car. On my credit reports I have the following

Experian - All positive tradelines. Good car loan currently being paid.

Equifax and Transunion have all the same items EXCEPT they have a 7 year old reposession that hasnt dropped off.

They are getting different information that sais it wont turn 7 years old until next year.

If I did a credit pull, and the lender pulled all three, would they use Experians score and overlook the reposession on the other ones for the sake of financing me?

Re: Question on which score will be used.

Well for me. I contacted and applied with my credit union. They used Equifax. And that is all they pulled to approve me. They did not pull any other reports. I think most lenders only pull a single report similar to what my CU did.

Starting Score: TU 489 EQ 561 EX unknown (2/24/2013)
Current Score: Lender Pull (11/15/13) EQ 702, TU 679, EX 684
Goal Score: 720

Re: Question on which score will be used.

If you go to the dealer, they will usually pull all 3 and go with the median score. If you apply yourself at a bank, they will usually only pull one report.

As of 2017, rebuilding...

Thank you everyone for the input. Do you think they will overlook the fact there is a repo on two reports? and go with the best one to get me financed?

Depends on the lender and how old the repo is.  I was approved with a 3 year old repo.

Re: Question on which score will be used.

I had a similar problem last month.  I had one clean report and two that had a collection.  The collection was supposed to have been gone and is gone now. But I needed the car and couldn't wait so I just froze the other two CRA's.  Some look down on it but when I'm paying interest on $28k I'm doing everything I can to get the lowest rate.

Re: Question on which score will be used.

Thanks everyone for the replies!

The reposession is 7 years old this month.

As of today it has falled off of Transunion and Experian.

Equifax somehow has a date of 8-2015 for it falling off my report. That just happens to be the month/year that the repo was charged off.

I contacted the OC and they said that is how they handle it. They go 7 years from when they charge off the account. (Doesn't make any sense since they reported 9-2006 to the others) I had a nice fight with them and informed them it is 7 years from the DOFD. Which happens to be September of 2006 when i first went delinquient. They waited over 2 years to charge off the account. I disputed it but now am waiting patiently for Equifax to side with me and have it removed....I am not a patient person to say the least
