Not sure where you live but if you have a CarMax I would go just sell your car to them, it takes out one more thing that they will mess with numbers on.

You are probably looking at roughly $500-$1000 in fees, not including taxes.

I would pick out the car you want on the website and then call into the dealership and tell them you would like best offer "OUT THE DOOR" on this car/truck.

If you can be flexible with year or options, you might be able to walk yourself into an even better deal but otherwise go for that one.

Tell them you have financing at 3. what ever you got... but have you checked if this is brand new car what is the company offering (0% for 60 months or anything like that??

 

If you need to trade some things will change.

also at some point I would probably take your loan and make sure it's good to go if need be, but let them try to beat the price.

 

but again I would simply make them give you out door price FIRST, then you can let them do credit, etc.

then go in of course.

 

As long as you are going to pay extra then fine but I also wouldn't take a loan longer then 60 months unless 0% or .9 something very low.... would that 3. something rate be cheaper on auto draft payments at 60 months?

Fees are generally associated with the vehicle sale rather than the loan itself which I think PD and CA pointed out.

 

I'll add this though: many states have legal limitations as to what's allowed in terms of extra fees being assessed.  Some of these you have no choice on, registration, etc... and others they're not allowed to have on there period.  Cali has explicit limits as to which, and what fees are expected... no more, no less.  Find out what they are for your state, write them down / print it out, and if you see something on the contract that doesn't match the legal requirements, just point and say: No.  If they balk, wave around the paper and if needed walk as there's always another dealer willing to sell to you.
