My current score is 625 maybe 630 since i have paid down my cc balances in preperation for applying for this personal loan.
My current auto loan is via Chrysler Captal at 19% apr $315 per month total loan amount was 13,500ish
I am ready to get out of the high apr loan asap
My credit union is doing a special on personal loans borrow upto $15000 at 5% this special offer is good from Jan till the end of February.
My question is could i possibly have a shot at being grainted that much money on a personal loan?
Should i just save the hard inquiry for another auto loan?
Im guessing auto loan vs personal loan... Auto is probably easier to achieve being that the car would be colateral.
Second question im ready to refinance weather it be thru my bank or another bank any suggestions?
**Info on my credit profile***
total cc utilization about 15% 4,1000 total credit limit
4 store cards 1 unsecured card 1 secured card 1 personal loan $100 out of $500 remaining owed.
Income is $18000/year
No late payments
1 or 2 medical collections (few years old)
current auto loan remaining balance or $12,400
** When i got my original auto loan my credit was ran about 8 times by the dealer, I checked my credit score and it was 605 prior to going to the dealer, the dealer showed me a number like 545. They screwed me on purpose.
Advice is appreciated
Check with your credit union to see if they can refi your auto loan. Yes, it is easier to qualify for a auto loan than an unsecured personal loan. Ask your CU what credit scores they need for both the personal unsecured loan and the auto loan and it is likely they need higher scores for the unsecured personal loan.
While you are chatting with the CU find out which scores they are using. Some CU's just use the older FICO versions that are commonly referred to as FICO mortgage scores. Others use scores specifically for auto loans. Others use FICO 8s. Ask so you know which score to pull before you apply so you know if you qualify from a credit POV
If you could knock your interest rate down to 5% I would use a personal loan to pay down the higher interest car loan.
You should go to Avant, LendingClub and Prosper to see if you would qualify for a loan with only a soft pull. Let us know how you do.
I just tried prosper and i was declined.
It said i was a soft pull and i hope it was but it said my score was too low at a 663
So i guess 700 is necessary for them.
Idk we will see ill try my CU at the end of the week. Hoping i can get 11% or lower.
A 663 would qualify for 2.79% at 72 months at my CU. I'm also 100% sure it would be much easier to qualify for an auto refinance compared to a straight personal loan. I would suggest just what others have, and that is walk in and ask
You will not be approve for a personal loan with a fico of 635. Will be able to refi for lower rate maybe in the 3-7% area probably up to 110% LTV
