Re: Remote Deals

We just snagged a new BMW X3M from a BMW dealer in Missouri (we're in Wisconsin); couldn't have been easier. None of the dealers in the Milwaukee and Chicago area would realistically play ball price-wise. Filled out the credit app online on a Tuesday, they overnighted paperwork Wednesday, we signed and sent back Thursday, they stuck the car on an auto carrier on Friday, it showed up outside on Monday - just like an Amazon package. Was really cool and I feel like I'll have a hard time transacting at a dealership physically after this experience.

Can't speak for the trade in process as we didn't trade anything in but I have to imagine it'd work similarly. The BMW of ours that this replaces was sold to a buyer online out of state who's having it shipped.

With the internet and technology these days there's no reason not to consider a great deal in a different part of country.

Re: Remote Deals

I was going to do a trade in two weeks ago when I bought my son a car but decided to keep it and give it to his sister. The process was to take a ton of photos of the car and send them to the dealer so they could decide on the valuation. They would've had to inspect it in person to finalize it at delivery.

We did everything remotely. I signed the paperwork at my house during delivery. Took 5 mins, and the process otherwise took only a few texts. The only thing that irritated me was they added a $99 delivery fee without ever mentioning it... felt a bit sneaky. Otherwise, best purchase ever!

Re: Remote Deals

It has been painfully slow trying to buy remote this week. Started on Monday, I think dealers in Florida are just using it as a lead generator to get you to come in person. Was trying to avoid going in person this weekend but does not look possible right now.

Re: Remote Deals

No trade.  But I bought a GX460 from a Houston, TX Lexus sealer in May.  (I'm in Seattle).  Financed with USAA.  Did it all from my phone.  Dealer had mobile notary come to my office for paperwork.  Shipped vehicle to me the following week.  Super easy.
