Okay if my score is lower than my husband's his is 700. Which score will the rate go off of the lowest or the highest for a joint app?
I worked at a Ford dealership ~10 years ago, and from what I remembered it did vary by lender, however; I would say 8/10 generated rate by the lower score. Almost every time if the lower score had the higher income.
But this was a long time ago and just my experience. Your mileage may vary ☺️
oh i hope not
Our purchase in 2017 we were told (and witnessed rates for both wsys) that the primary borrower sets the rate and co-signer can help with DTI.
For us, wife first was 9.5%; me first was 8.5%. Later I refinanced dropping her from the loan all together because by myself I got 3.5%, with her as co-signer it was 4.25% and her first was 6.5% (from same bank).
