Should I even try?

 I posted on another site's forums to see if I had a chance at getting an auto loan. Apparently, there was someone there who worked in the industry. I filled out all my info-just to see and this person said that it would be difficult getting an auto loan from him. It made me very nervous.

My scores are

EX=655

TU=670

EQ=670

My util is a little high at 28%

Concerns are that I'm a teacher and just switched school districts-I'm in my 5th year of teaching.

I don't own/rent. I do pay about 400 month towards groceries...etc...

I can put about 3k down.

Do you think I should even try applying for an auto loan? Or wait until my score goes up?

Re: Should I even try?

I would pay your util asap and see how much your scores go up.  Then decide.

Hi Heatherkins,

I have to ask you where you got your scores. If those aren't pulled by a lender then all of them are almost certainly not FICO scores. There is no 3 in 1 monitoring service that sells all 3 FICO scores. Almost everything out there (Quizzle, freecreditreport.com. freescore.com, etc.) will sell you "credit scores" but they are not FICO scores and most of them (TransRisk, Plus scores to name 2 of them) aren't used by any lender.

No one has been able to buy their own Experian FICO score since February of 2009. Creditors can pull Experian and also there is a CU (PSECU) in Pennsylvania that supplies that information to it's members only. You can only buy true FICO scores at a few places. One place is here at myFICO.

At one time you could also purchase your Transunion score at transunioncs.com but that site seems to have stopped doing that. Wal Mart now offers a TU score to those who have their store card and the Discover version.

Equifax will still sell you a FICO score but you have to look very hard to find it. You can get to it here: www.equifax.com/web-myfico-products/

Yout true FICO scores could be much higher or much lower than what you have listed. Unless of course those are lender pulled.

From a BK years ago to:
EX - 3/11 pulled by lender- 835, EQ - 2/11-816, TU - 2/11-782

Re: Should I even try?

I use score watch at myfico for TU and I purchased my EQ score. EX is probably a fako from lendingtree.

Are the myfico scores not real FICO's? I assumed they were...

GW for what?  You didn't mention any negatives in your OP.

Re: Should I even try?

Marine...do you think I should wait until my score is above 700 before I try?
