Slight over look, will this hurt my score?

Long story short, my debt card expired and I was issued a new one, of which I activated. The number of the card is the same but of course the exp date and the security code on back changed.

Now, all the places I have linked the card to were all kind enough to give heads up about the card expiring, of which I made a mental note and changed the info as I activated the card.

Now, fast forward to Friday, I got a email from my auto loan person who told me to contact him. I went and looked and sure enough, no auto payment for the car loan.... I had forgotten I had the debt card instead of auto withdraw from the checking account.

SO I called him today and updated. He was kinda tossed a curve because this is my 3rd auto loan from the company, and I have never in all the years missed one payment to them. With that said, technically I am "late" because the payment was to be made on friday, of which the card of course was declined due to the old info for the card.

So, will this hurt my score? Is there anything I can do to maybe combat a negative remark on my credit report if it does show as a late payment? I am so ticked right now at the situation... all this hard work I have put in for almost 2 years digging out of a sub 550 fico score hole, could be all tossed out the window by something as stupid as this. Heck, if I had known right away on friday what was going on I would have drove the 40 miles just to make sure I had paid it on time. I had the money, just the card info was wrong. I hope I get some good news on this.

No.

Late payments are only reported on your credit report (and therefore affect your score) if they are a minimum of 30 days late.

While a payment that is late by a few days can incur late fees and penalties from the lender, it cannot be reported to the credit bureaus until it passes that 30-day mark - which yours won't since you paid it in a couple of days after it was due.

You are late in the sense that they can now charge you a late fee, but it has to be 30 days to report like the previous poster said.

O that is such awesome news! I dont think I will occure the late fee either because he said nothing of the sorts on the phone. I think my rock solid payment history with them helped in that sense.
