My 2004 Chevy pickup as almost 200k miles on it. Every time I go look at new pickups, I get sticker shock seeing how much they're asking for them. So I decide there's not really that much wrong with the pickup I have, lol.
But every time it needs to be worked on, I start thinking that if I'm going to drive a vehicle that old, I need two of them so I have one to drive when the other one's in the shop.
I've wanted a Corvette since I was about 15. (I'm 52 now.) It never seemed like a practical choice as my only vehicle. Buuut, if I'm looking for a second vehicle . . . there are a lot of really nice used 'Vettes out there for a lot less than a new pickup would cost.
I'm shopping for C6 Grand Sports. The 6th generation Corvette - aka C6 - was from 2005-2013. The Grand Sport of that era came out in 2010, so I'm looking at 2010-2013 Grand Sports. I see some for sale with 30-something thousand miles on them for 30-something thousand dollars. Some of these look new inside and out. So that's my target ballpark. I have my eye on one now, if it doesn't sell before I rake up a downpayment.
I've been "saving for a downpayment" for quite some time. But every time I get a little money, I think that if I just pay my debts down a little more, I'll have better chances of approval and get a better interest rate. Plus, I don't want to take on car payments before I get rid of most of my existing payments. I had some unexpected expenses earlier this year that set me back. Been trying to get my debts paid back down. Just about ready to pull the trigger. 'Nother month or maybe two.
I'm planning to see what PenFed says about financing, since they apparently like giving me credit.

Do it ! 😎🤟

Coupe
Automatic Transmission
3LT (or 4LT)
I drive a truck and shift gears for a living. I prefer my personal vehicles to do the shifting for me. Red is my top choice of colors, but it's not a requirement. The one I'm eyeballing right now is red, yes. (And yeah, it's the one in the picture. But that pic may change day-to-day, depending on my mood, lol.)
ETA: I like your pic. The C6 crossed flags.

Getting the 'Vette was the reason I got serious about trying to improve my credit. But improving my credit has become and end unto itself. I could do a little more work on it and put the Corvette off for another year and be in a much better position financially. But I've put it off for "one more year" for the last 5 or 6 years. It's time!
Lots of 'Vette owners store their cars through the winter. So if they're thinking of selling, they sell when winter sets in. Spring is the buying rush. So right now, during the cold months, is when you can find the best selection at the best prices. Another couple months and prices will start going up as selection thins out. So any delay means probably waiting another year.

You know what? I say go for it.
I realize there's a lot we don't know about your situation (credit score, income, etc.) and I certainty would never encourage you to take out more than you can manage and end up in a bad spot. But, coming a from a car guy, if this is your dream car and you can reasonably swing it I say do it. If there's anything this awful year has taught us is that time is precious. The happiness a car can bring a person isn't something we can quantify with dollars and interest rates. Being responsible and practical about finances is obviously important but there's a balance between both of those and enjoying your life while you're here and while you're healthy.
Also, I did my first out of state car purchase in 2020 and it couldn't have been easier. In case you're only looking local, don't hesitate to cast a bigger net and look all over the country. If the deal is good enough, you can have it inspected and shipped to you and still come out ahead.
Just my 2 cents.
