I applied for NFCU auto loan on Friday, 10/2 and was approved for full 48k I asked for at their lowest rate (for 72 months) 2.29%. I'll be putting 13k down for the model Y, white with white leather and 20" induction wheels.
My income is around 130k.
Congrats on your new Model Y, I just got mine a couple weeks ago also through a NFCU pre-approval. Fantastic car, we are loving it for sure, and so is our dog in South Florida...dog mode ![]()
I wanted to come back and update everybody. We got full approval from a local credit union here in Austin. UFCU. 2.95% rate. We are scheduled to be delivered October 31!
And, we are also excited about dog mode! This is my first luxury vehicle so I am pretty excited!

Congrats! Please be sure to check local guidance on leaving pets unattended in a vehicle with this feature.
@Gladius @To be honest, we will probably only try the feature out and never actually have our dog sit by himself. We have a lab puppy and an older min pin. I don't trust either of these little stinkers. 😂😂😂
Congrats on the loan and car from one Austinite to another!
I was in the market for the Model Y/3 before I moved here a year ago myself. It's still on the radar, just not the immediate future. Enjoy the new wheels!
@randomguy1 Thank you! If you decide to get one in the future, for sure check out UFCU for financing. It was by far the easiest financing of anything I've gotten.
Ok, I couldn't wait and pulled the trigger. Went with Tesla financing for convenience and I think the rate is decent so I didn't apply elsewhere. Applied jointly with my hubsand. Ordered white with black 20" induction wheels. Can't wait for delivery!

MISCELLANEOUS COMMENTARY: I spent the past month optimizing my score using AZEO and in the end it made very little difference in scores. I was glad I was monitoring my score because after I placed the order early this month my AU Chase off-cycle reported to zero and dropped me into the 730s. I waited until that reported a balance before applying for financing. Tesla financing is *super* easy and I got an offer less than 5 minutes after submitting the application. I am happy to have only 1 HP on EX as well. This is my first new car so I am pretty pumped, although I will be bringing a long list of things to check at delivery as there have been some quality issues with Model Ys this year. We have worked super hard to get where we are to purchase this vehicle coming back from '08 financial crisis/foreclosure and then not using credit for a decade. I was barely able to get approved for $6k for an auto loan when I was a full-time unemployed student 2 years ago with scores in the 600s so I am thrilled to be approved for the full amount, and I will make extra payments after selling my 2015 Fiat 500e (Tesla offered peanuts for trade-in).

When I purchased my 2020 Model 3 LR this summer, Tesla offered me financing through TD Auto Finance. I turned them down and got a far better deal with NFCU. Not sure why Tesla works with substandard lenders like TD...
Meanwhile, the car is awesome! Dog mode is the best!
