When I was dealing with the internet salesman from the dealership I ended up gettnig the car from, I never said whether or not I had financing already. It is best to do this, because you don't have to deal with the pressure tactics of the 4 square system. You will already know what you'll be paying each month, and can just shop around to try to get the best price the dealerships will give you. When they learned what my rate was from DCU, they were legitimately surprised. Best rate their company was offering was .9% but had to be 36 months, which I would not have qualified for, the payment would have been much too high. They never ran my credit at the dealership or anythying, so no worries about additional HPs. When I spoke w/ the loan rep from DCU on the phone, she said all that was required after I was preapproved was for the dealership to fax the purchase order to their loan department with attn: loan# and everything will be taken care of from there. The lady was extremely helpful and even changed the rate from 1.74 to 1.24 as I could not get the membership loan application to work, so I had to go from the link on their home page to get the loan. I just have to call back and verify that I will be setting up auto-pay and direct deposit to get the lower rate. Excellent service all around. I was only on the phone with her for five or so minutes.

I'm in the process of applying online (not a member yet, applying for loan) but its asking me for "branch more convinient to me?" I live in California, can I just choose which ever?
Select "Consumer Loans" from the drop down.
Well I just refinanced my car with DCU for $21,500 @ 1.24%, 60 months.
I applied online and I was instantly approved.
A lady called me about an hour later to ask a few questions and to tell me which docs they needed me to send. They pulled my score at 713 EQ. My DTI was about 18%, annual income is 55K.
I have 4 CCs and 2 store CCs with a total CL of $8,750. I made sure only one card showed a balance last month of about 4%. I have $22k in student loans and my AAoA was about 2.4 yrs. I've been a member at DCU for 9 months now and I've been waiting for the last of my baddies to fall off, which they did last month. My reports were clean as a whistle.
It feels good to leave Santander and their 13.13% APR behind. I love DCU.
Congrats Max07!
For the 1.24% rate, DCU requires DD of "net pay." anybody DD less than this amount? i only want to DD the amount of the loan each month.

I wouldn't do the amount that would cover just the loan, I read somewhere on here that they increased the rate on someone (by 0.5%) because he was doing that. Maybe a few hundred dollars more than the loan would be fine but I have not tested this out myself. In my case, since I emailed my pay slips, I thought they would know what my net pay is (?) so I decided to just transfer my entire DD over.
I wish I would have read this thread this morning lol.. I just applied at DCU:
EQ FICO: 725
Monthly Earnings: $6,000
Mortgage (in wife's name): $900
DTI:0%
No instant reply, still waiting for them to contact me (just applied 20 minutes ago)
I am still looking at a Nissan Titan or Frontier and I see Nissan has 0% for tier 1/2/3 if you get a Pro 4x, but I would rather go in with some bargaining power.
YOU need to call them tomorrow and say you're looking to buy a car soon. Otherwise they might take 2+ weeks to get back to you. If you call them, instant decision over the phone.

I did contact them by chat and they said decisions are normally within 24-48 hours. I am not going car shopping until Wednesday, so if I don't hear anything by 2pm tomorrow, I will take your advice. I see they did a credit pull on EQ. MyFico score for EQ is 725, so I have my fingers crossed.
