I'm new to the forum and have been in the process of repairing my credit for about a year (500 > 640). The main blemish on my credit is a charge off for a Wells Fargo Auto Loan in the amount of $734. Unfortunately, I paid the balance in full a few days after the CO date, which was incorrectly communicated to me before hand. I was involved in an auto accident on a newer loan, and didn't have GAP insurance. Out of work for a few months, and making the remainining few thousand in payments was a challenge. Not making that mistake again. Anyways, wondering if anybody has had luck with asking Wells Fargo for a good-faith removal of the charge off? On my credit, it currently shows as Paid in Full, Closed, Charge Off. I think this charge off continues to hold me back as far as making real strides on my credit repair. With that said, not expecting a miracle and know there's a high chance it's there to stay. Thanks in advance.
Welcome to the forum.
There have been posts here in the past where people had success having a goodwill deletion granted by Wells Fargo.
As is common with Goodwill success, it often requires repeated attempts. Other than your time and some postage, it won't cost you much to try... Best of luck!
Thank you, Joe. This is helpful insight. Like you said, can't hurt to ask.
