What do dealerships actually SEE on your application?

My buddy was asking me and I had no idea-- when my wife bought her car last year we just saw her credit score (Acura Financial) and everything was gravy-- but when I bought my car through my credit union I saw my entire credit report... Then again it was THEIR funds they were lending...

So if I walked in to a dealership without having secured funding before (which I would do anyway, probably) and the dealership's finance department "shops" you out-- are they getting a copy of your report or just a yes/no and maybe your score from their lenders?

Thanks in advance, was curious Smiley Happy

Dealership has your full report.

Dealership will first pull your CB(s), and analyze your credit report in order to submit you to the bank's they see fit.

They will see any public records (BK's/tax liens), Collections, inquiries, all tradeline's including mortgage, credit cards, student loans, etc. Basically they see the same thing you see when you pull your credit bureau's on this website.

They then submit you to bank(s) who also acquire a copy of your credit bureau to make an underwriting decision based on your credit.

A good F&I Manager should be able to review your credit and submit you to a minimal amount of lender's that they see most fit for your situation to get you the best approval. In sub-prime financing, unfortunately it isn't as easy as that though, often credit is "shotgunned" to many subprime lender's.
