Why did I get denied?

I am trying to get a loan for a 2012 Prius with 50k miles.  The car is $14,000 and my trade is worth at least $5,000.  My Experian is 665, equifax is 693, and Transunion is 678.  Creditkarma says my FICO is 622.  I have one bill for $250 that went to collections 3 years ago.  Creditkarma says I had a lot of late payments with my home equity loan, but those were from 3 years ago.  No other bad things on my credit.  One mistake i made is my only credit card has a limit of $800, and it was maxed (corrected it now).  I went to PNC, the guy said I should have no problem qualifying for a less than 4% rate.  Got denied.  I have a feeling it was his mistake though, I own a house and he took down the mortgage payments, but didn't ask about the rent I get from it.  I also get $400 a month in child support, and make $43k with my main job.  I didn't tell him about my second job because i don't make a set amount, I'm an independant contractor and I get paid for whatever work I do.  SO I think with having $1,200 month rent, plus the mortgage, and not showing any rental income, that my money going out is too high for my income.  Does this sound right?  I am going to go to a CU on monday and try again, but want to know if you guys think I will be ok?  And how do I deal with the income from my second job?  I do get pay statements every week.  Thanks!

Re: Why did I get denied?

Looks like DTI was an issue.  Also, if this if your 1st auto loan, that could be another reason for a denial.  I'd look into a CU like you plan to do, you should have some success going that route.

Agree with the previous poster, DTI was the issue. Show all your income, including the part time job and the rental income. Do you report the rental income on your taxes? If not, that could be an issue. The CU may want to see your tax return with the rental income included.

Credit Karma is not FICO.
