Would you buy?

After a little negotiating on the phone, a local dealer offered me a 2014 Toyota Camry SE (the 2014.5 version) for $19,919.00. I haven't gotten the chance yet to find out the dealer fee. I'm waiting on that response. So far does that sound like a good price to everyone? We started at $21,900.00. For price comparison, a zipcode in my area is 32806. I'm hoping to get semi-decent financing. My EQ Fico is 662 and I'm expecting my auto-enhanced score to be a bit lower due to an auto loan that I had from 2005-2010 with several late payments. I got approved with DCU but only for 15k due to my income.

Re: Would you buy?

So you're looking at ~$20,600 plus tax, title, etc....Is that accurate ?

Re: Would you buy?

I PM'ed you about this, but I used a Tampa zip for the TrueCar price over in the PM lol. Plugging in your Orlando zip results in a better situation. Your price IS decent!

How long are you willing to drive to pick up the car if buying new? Say you can save $500...what's the most you'd drive for that savings?

Re: Would you buy?

If I could save $500, I'd be willing to drive up to 2 hours away since I'm upside down on my current loan. I'm happy to know that I'm doing my negotiating right so far! How much should I try to negotiate down the dealer fee?

Re: Would you buy?

See my PM. Dealer fee can't be directly negotiated. But you can tell them that you know dealer fee = pure profit. So take half the fee off of the car price since you know they legally have to charge customers the same dealer fee (they aren't lying here, just not outright saying that they can just reduce the car's price in lieu of reducing dealer fee)!

Also my offer from PM stands: If you want me to send out a couple emails to Toyota dealerships and negotiate in your name (I'll be using a random name, if you use the quoted price, just say the person is related to you), let me know!
