auto loan advice needed

Sometime in the future, I'm looking to finance a vehicle.  I'm unsure as to what exactly I'll purchase.  I'm leaning towards a Honda Accord....looking for a reliable full size sedan.  In any event, I was wondering if there are certain dealer finances which should be avoided.  I've heard mixed reviews of Honda Financial Services.  This makes me wonder if I'd be better off financing elsewhere, such as through Navy Federal (already a member), Penfed, etc.  Any and all advice would be much appreciated.

Well it's difficult to predict what future offers and interest rates will be. The first thing to know is that almost all auto loan rates are based on your credit score. The fact that you are a member of NFCU though makes this a no-brainer. When you are ready to purchase an automobile then just go to NFCU and apply for the loan. They always have competitive rates and sometimes special rate limited time offers. The only real info you will need for the application process is whether you are buying new or used. There is always a better loan rate on new cars and there are age and mileage limits on use cars.

Once you have an approval and an interest rate from NFCU then go car shopping. Once you have found the car you want and negotiated the purchase price then you can discuss financing. Tell them what your rate is at NFCU and see if they can beat it. Honda often has 0% financing (if qualified) which would be better than even NFCU can offer. If you don't want to hassle with negotiating the purchase price then NFCU even has an auto shop program that will give you a price on the car you want before you even show up at the dealer. Pre-priced, pre-approved financing, doesn't get much easier.Smiley Wink

Well it depends on your score. If you have a very good credit score you may qualify for 0% financing through any of the dealers (honda, toyota etc...) But if you do not qualify for a 0% through dealers, I would highly suggest you apply with Navy. You will be able to get one of the best rates around since they are a credit union.
