Is anyone else getting 2 to 3 preapprovals for Auto Financing from Capital One every month?
I used to get one every other week by snail mail, and now I'm getting them in my email as well.
This has been going on for about 10 months now...
Bankruptcy filed February 2015. Within a week, I was getting letters galore from local dealers ready to sell me a car immediately - at a bazillion percent I'm sure. Got two unsecured Capital One cards - one in May with a $500 limit before discharge and one in June after discharge with $1000 limit. In November/December, they went up to $2500 and $3000. I've been getting at least three "Limited time offer" snail mails and at least 2 similar email offers from them per month. I opened a Chase checking account in May. Got married in October so we opened a joint account with them also. Got my first car loan email from them yesterday.
I figured since I'm "in" so to speak, with Capital One, we opened a car down payment fund with a local credit union. With monthly contributions and a portion of our tax refund, I'm hoping to have at least $5000 ready to go by July. I didn't plan on car shopping until then anyway, figuring my numbers should be 700ish, I'll have a full year of on time over payments with Capital One and I'll be 12 months post discharge. Besides those obvious issues, my income is solely from disability. Even though that's over $2000 per month, a loan may still be an issue. Hopefully my darling dearest co-signing will remedy that lol.
My wife and I both get a couple per month. We will never use it because I find credit unions to be the way to go when financing cars. I did a refi last year to a cap one loan and cut the interest in half with 10 days by refinancing that loan with NFCU.
Good to know. While Capital One seems more than eager, my hopes that having gone in rather than open the account online, and telling her outright my purpose, will lead to that.
I get a preapproval at least twice a month via USPS, and I usually get a couple emails a month, too.
