This is my first auto loan, i put 1,500 down on a jeep commander and financed the rest ($3500)my experian score was 540 at the time and the dealership had a program where they cosigned and help people with low credit get approved for auto loans at a catholic credit union. it was a 2 year loan and i have been making extra payments and only owe $800 now. i have the money to pay it off now, should i wipe out the balance or should i not do this? will it help my credit score if i paid it off early?

Is this the only installment loan that you have on your reports? If it is then I would expect your score to drop when you pay it off.
