Apple Card Approved

So random I just got approved for the Apple Card. $2,500.  It was a random that I applied. I'm about to buy a new Apple computer so thought I would try for the card.

I'd applied in the past and was denied.  I just noticed my 2 year DC anniversary was last month so maybe that had something to do with it.

I'm a big Chase CC fan because of their points and so forth but also a big Apple fan. So this is sorta like getting back in with Chase. ha.  I realize I have some time before I'll have a chance with Chase though.  I burned Chase for high 5 figures.

Current situation:

100 percent on-time payments.

CC's:

Wells Fargo CC: $1000 - PIF (zero balance has not hit my CR yet after months with a balance)

Cap One Plat: $1,500 - PIF (zero balance has not hit my CR yet after months with a balance)

Merrick Bank: $1,700 - PIF (zero balance has not hit my CR yet after months with a balance)

Apple Card: $2,500

(will leave a small balance on one card to register with a balance)

Loans:

Lending Club: $5,400 (new loan, has not hit CR yet)

Best Egg: $10,000 (new loan, has not hit CR yet)

Current Fico Score 8 from Experian:
Ex: 632

Eq: 636

Tu: 608

Re: Apple Card Approved

How does this trade line grow?  I ask because I am 23 months from discharge, Fico's 660-680 range between the 3 bureaus.  I got approved for $250 but declined.  Was it better to get my foot in the door and let it grow, or wait longer in hopes of a better starting line?

I'm not really sure.  I don't think you can gadge why or when you'll get approved. Or how much you'll get approved for.

i got approved this time with a healthy cc limit but my scores were not high (worse then yours) I had maxed out balances across my cards, BUT I was 25 months from DC.

I'm not sure if being past 2 years from DC is what did it. I had applied several times in the past with better numbers but denied.

Try again in 3 months once you're past 2 years from your DC.

I wouldn't worry about the initial limit. Nothing you can do about it. Once you get the card then all you have to do is wait for time to pass and your limit will grow.

Not sure how GS treats those with BKs on their records, but according to the fine redditors over at r/AppleCard, the card can apparently grow quite nicely. Going from 250/500/1000 to 10000+ in about a year seems to be pretty common. It's recommended to request a CLI every quarter (at least 90 days in between requests) to drive up limits in quick order. Word is GS likes to see heavy-ish use relative to current limits plus the tendency to PIF for CLI purposes.
