Bankruptcy and ChexSystems

Filed BK7 on 12/29. Have 341 hearing on 2/8/16.

I currently can not get a bank account because I have a bad account through ChexSystems. Will filing BK7 help me to get rid of this? If so, what steps do I take?

Yes, this one is easy.

Send your bankruptcy paperwork to Chexsystems and ask them to clear your name.  They will do it.  There's lots of folks on here who have had it done, even where they did not know money, but were tagged for some fraudulent activity or such.

So send your paperwork and then ask them to send you an updated and clear Chexsystems report.

I have not heard that before. OP said they had "a bad account" with Chex - that sounds like a bank reporting an account closed for some derogatory reason or closed with a negative balance due to unpaid fees or overdraft, and that wouldn't be normally included in a BK filing.

I've never had a banking problem but do have a BK7 discharged Jan 2011. But just to be sure a ordered a copy of my free annual Chex report last year - it was completely blank, no record of my BK, as I said never a banking problem, and no inquiries as I hadn't opened a new account in 7+ years. I would be concerned if he sent them a copy of his BK paperwork they would enter the BK on his report.

I called them today, they verified all my information, and then ask me for my bankruptcy case number and said it would be removed within 24 hours. It was that simple, and they said I would get something in the mail to confirm that. Thanks for your help everyone :-)

I only knew about this from two or three other threads i participated in.  I was skeptical, too, but in each case the chex file  was competely cleared, even if the problem was not an outstanding loss amount.  This one really is easy.

Just wanted to say thanks to the posters on how to get my file in ChexSystems cleared. I filed bankruptcy on 2/26/16 and am awaiting discharge. I faxed my BK paperwork and a letter requesting the two entries be removed around the beginning of this month. In my mailbox today was a letter indicating "he information has been removed from my consumer file at ChexSystems".  I can't wait until I am discharged so that I can open a credit union account!

I have same issue I filed and discharged in dec 2015 and I should have a old balanced owned td bank from 4 years ago
Can I get a free copy first to see if anything was reported ??

Yes. Go to ChexSystems.com. Then click on the link the "Free FACTA Report" link under the Reports section on the far right.
