Bankruptcy filed in 2018, discharged beginning of 2019. I always thought it was on all of my reports, but apparently after signing up for myFico it is not listed on Equifax. I have been rebuilding and working really hard and by doing so I filed disputes for accounts reporting as collections on Experian that were discharged in Bankruptcy. Barclay's (SO AWFUL) actually updated my report that the account was charged off as of 8/1/22 and serious delinquency updated 8.20.22 I got an alert today. So now it looks like a charge off and also looks like a recent missed payment. I believe this effects me more than the bankruptcy even would and is totally inaccurate so I disputed it and submitted documentation to Equifax for my discharge. Do you think they will add the bankruptcy to my Equifax report now? Would that be worse, a 3+ year bankruptcy or a recent serious delinquency that was inaccurate? Super worried I did the wrong thing uploading the discharge doc with my dispute. Help please =[
Equifax Fico 8 was 698 yesterday - dropped to 649 after Barclay's mistake today
Experian Fico 8 648
Transunion Fico 8 657
Also Gardened for years and then had an app spree with 5 approvals for new accounts. I know that will lower some too, but I'm going to take advantage of Penfed balance transfer offers and pay $600 per month.
| Alpheon | Burea Pulled EQ | SL | $5,300.00 |
| Penfed Gold | Burea Pulled EQ | SL | $5,000.00 |
| Penfed Platinum | ^same pull | SL | $5,000.00 |
| NASA FCU Classic | Burea Pulled EX | SL | $3,200.00 |
| Navy Federal Credit Union | Burea Pulled TU | SL | $500.00 |
Do you think any of the above could lower my limit or raise APR based on this new inaccurate reporting? Super nervous about it.

Not sure what you said when you disputed the item. I would contact the credit bureau and the company and ask for it to be removed or repoted accurately. I would provide bankruptcy docs. No matter what you did, they have to uphold federal law and report bankruptcy items appropriately. Could you give more info, maybe I am missing something. You can also file a dispute with CFPB. They have always been good to me.
The drop could potentially effect your current cards, hard to say for sure. That drop in score is serious.
Sorry if I wasn't clear. A little stressed over this situation. For some reason the bankruptcy in it's entirety is not listed on Equifax, it is on Experian and Transunion. I disputed Experian recently to removed Barclays for saying the account was a collection because it was included in Chapter 7 bankruptcy. For some reason, when I did that Barclays also updated Equifax but listed as a current charge off and did not mention it was included in bankruptcy, which it was. I uploaded the bankruptcy discharge when I filled a dispute for Barclays on Equifax tonight. Do you think Equifax will now list the bankruptcy on my report? I mean it will probably look better than a recent chargeoff since my bankruptcy has aged 3+ years.

That is a pickle. I haven't yet experienced this scenario or read about It. Neither of my bks (may 2017 ch 7 discharge and dec 2022 ch 13 filing) show on Eqifax either. Not sure if they will report, most likely not. I would still request it be removed through CFPB. You can request that Barclays remove it. You can also request Equifax have it removed. I have had success correcting things this way. Instead of updating it I always ask they remove the item since it is incorrect and every time it has worked. Companies (even PGE) are afraid of CFPB it seems. Usually you have a resolution in just two weeks.
Thank you so much, I'll do that! Didn't even know about them, appreciate you so much!

No worries. BK tips are hard to find on here for certain scenarios

Welcome to the forums @drochelle37
Congrats on your cards. Leave it to EQ to mess things up. Hold off and see what your letter did to fix it. Stay in the holding pattern. The CRA's get their info on BK's from a 3rd party who scans court records. Let us know what happens until then. My question is still 650's 3 yrs out?
I'll ping @despritfreya who is an actual BK Lawyer to answer your question on EQ not reporting.
So update this morning after disputing on equifax and writing the CFPB complaining about Barclay's violating bankruptcy law at 7AM this morning they removed the comment about Charge off and put reinvestigation in progress as a comment on my report. How in the world did that happen so fast? Maybe Equifax made the update since it was in violation of bankruptcy laws? I really hope they don't add the bankruptcy to my report, but if they do I still think an aged Bankruptcy is better than a recent invalid Charge-off. When checking what's hurting/helping my Equifax score this morning the major delinquency was removed along with the recent late payment (triggered by Barclays mistake). They replaced the negative items from yesterday and added one saying Lack of Sufficient relevant real estate account information as a score hurting item. My FICO hasn't updated to reflect yet these overnight changes yet. I can't thank you guys enough, fingers crossed this mess is over and that the Bankruptcy will still stay off of Equifax.
@FireMedic1 I think it's another error that's hurting my scores. My Equifax was the only one around 700 (before this mess and hopefully again later today). I need to get old student loan data off of my Experian and Transunion (FedLoanServicing) and those scores I think will shoot right up. I disputed all of them about 10 days ago, no update yet. I did default for about 6 months back in 2017, but went into a student loan rehabilitation program, completed it and then my servicer changed. My current servicer (Department of Education) lists everything as current and also extends all the way back to the origination of my student loans. With FedLoanServicing I literally have 8-10 negative status student loans showing on both of these reports with multiple 30+, 60+ 90+, 120+ past due status
Nice most of it is gone. Maybe your on a roll and the rest will go into the back of the server! ![]()
@FireMedic1Thanks for the "ping". Unfortunately, I know very little as it relates to credit reports. As you know, the filing of a bk can be reported for up to 10 years from the bk filing date. I don't know if reporting is actually required but certainly, whatever the CR shows needs to be accurate.
