Collection

Hope all is well today!

I've been noticing my Transunion score lower than others.  Starting digging around and found I have a collection on trans. Bankruptcy was discharged 2mo ago, everything else that was collections is gone, except this little gem.

FiCO has it as follows:

11 charter communication

3/17/21

$257

status- unrated or bankruptcy

comments- chapter 7 bankruptcy

CREDIT KARMA has same information with the exception of the status, status is OPEN through CK.

I don't know bankruptcy very well, all new to me. But I thought once discharged any and all collections were to be wiped off the slate?

Is this normal or should I dispute?

thanks in advance!

Re: Collection

They are not required to delete it but the balance should be zeroed out.

Re: Collection

Should I file a dispute to have it removed or at least updated to zero?

Re: Collection

my dispute came back finally,  they verified as accurate, no changes made.
this is killing my trans score as it's the only bureau reflecting a collection. They won't remove it like the others did, anything I can do?

disputed as account is closed, and included in bankruptcy.

there's got to be something to get this off my transunion report, any help?

Re: Collection

Tell your lawyer and give them copies of the illegal info. All accounts must reflect a $0 balance. If they dont fix it. It a $1000 fine and court/lawyer costs after they get a reminder letter from your lawyer if its not corrected. Judges dont like this type of behavior. Good luck!

Re: Collection

You can dispute as should be reporting closed/$0 balance/IIB.  It doesn't have to be removed until the 7 year mark.

I had 2 collections at Ch 13 discharge in March and one reporting open which I disputed and it was removed.  The other is accurate and remains for another year till I hit the 7 year mark.

in my experiences TU has always been a headache when it comes to reporting inaccurate info.  I am currently in a dispute over an auto loan that was IIB.  When the final payment was made by the trustee in Feb TU updated my report "last payment made" to that date and for whatever reason it is being interpreted as a late payment and tanking my TU score... especially the auto score.  The last payment made by me should be reporting a date prior to filing Ch 13 because no payment history is reported after that date.

The error doesn't show on EQ and EX... only TU.
