How accounts are showing/reporting question...

Hey guys!! While patiently waiting for my DC I've been cleaning up my reports and had a question,  I noticed that a LOT of them are showing the balance as "n/a".  Should I dispute these as "$0" balances?? I wasn't sure as far as FICO scoring if the fact that they are showing that way if it's hurting my scores any. Does it matter as long as they are showing "closed"??

Thanks for any thoughts...

Re: How accounts are showing/reporting question...

We are also waiting on discharge of chapt 7 and ive noticed some of my accounts say

Open, Bal $$$ Owed amount,

payment status unknown

then I have some that say

Closed,

$0 Balance,

payment status as paid

and then I have some that say

Closed

$0 Balance

Late

How are items suppose to be showing on my CR after filing Chapt 7 but before discharge? This is all confusing.

Re: How accounts are showing/reporting question...

Creditors start closing accounts about as soon as they get wind you filed for BK but on your credit report, I don't think it will change to "IIB" until DC.  That's how it was for me at least.   It took me about a month to clean everything up.  I tried opening a credit union account after discharge and they denied me due to Chexsystems and a debt there from a bank I had used that was reportedly closed.

After a letter and an attached DC order, I got it wiped and was able to open a new credit union account elsewhere.

So, some things you just have to wait for after DC for it to be reflected on your credit report.   If you start disputing it now, they may come back and say it's reporting correctly because the debt hasn't been discharged yet.
