No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
You should try their pre-qualify process first and see if they have any offer for you. That's only a Soft Pull on your credit reports. Our Ch 7 case is still open and not discharged yet. But last week both DW and I were approved for their Platinum card with $3000 SL each. She was pre-qualified for that card but I wasn't. I applied for it anyway with the intention of doing a recon (and ask for a secured card) if they didn't approve it. But thankfully they approved me for a $3000 SL.
I was approved about 4 months after discharge for the QS for 10K
This was after I opened a small auto loan, secured Credit One CC ($500) and then a FirstBank CC (1K)
I was very surprised and happy with the SL of Capital One. I thought it would take over a year before I saw 5 digit credit lines!
Timeline for me:
Discharge 06/2016
Auto Loan 7K opened 7/2016
Credit One secured 8/2016
Capital One 10/2016

The general consensus is that you have to be at least one year post C/O IF you burned CapOne. For example, I was current with both of my CapOne cards right up until I filed so technically my C/O was 30 days post file date as they apparently wait a month after your official file date before officially marking the account as a C/O. I was able to get back with them one year later after my official C/O date. There are some ppl who had C/O years before their file date and get back with CapOne the day after they're D/C.
Side note, the Prequalifier site did not offer me anything but applied anyway and was approved for a $3k QS1.
I understand it's one year after charge-off. I checked their preapproval while awaiting my discharge and was approved but as I went through the application process, the fine print said they would deny anyone currently in BK proceedings (something like that). I chickened out and waited the week or so to officially apply. I got a Platinum at $3000 and did Credit Steps to make it $3800. I eventually closed that one and now have a QS and Savor at $14800 and $6000, respectively (about 2 years post discharge).
I do know I have heard of people in this forum who got approved before discharge. I was too concerned with wasting hard pulls and it wasn't worth the risk when it just meant waiting a few days.
