Mortgage question

Hello. I have a chapter 7 bankruptcy from 9/2016. It has been a little over 4 years since my spouse and I filed. In those years I became an engineer and have been working as one for about 2 years. My SO and I are moving to a new state so I can take a new job. We want to buy our first home in our new location.

However how does that work with a bankruptcy on file and relocating while looking for a mortgage? Will we be able to get a mortgage while I am taking a new job and she is looking for a new one with a bankruptcy on file? Is it best for me to apply solo for a mortgage and leave her off since she will be looking for a job right before we close and it will show she has no job when they do the final checks right before closing?

my income is $78k with the new job. She currently makes 48k and will make 45-50k once she gets a new job. We are looking for a 250-300k mortgage with 20% down.

any suggestions on a good mortgage company for people with a 4 year old bk on file?

Re: Mortgage question

Welcome @Anonymous .Your far enough out from BK to get a loan. Best bet talk to a broker and let them figure out the best way to go about it with the SO or not. They can run the numbers and see which would fall in place for you. Little confused. You said you both filed. Then said she filed. Either way FHA likes 2 yrs out and your well past that. Good Luck on the move and new jobs!
