Good plan...make sure your credit reports are all correct. I had to do a maybe 2 or 3 disputes on mine. Some people have to do tons. I waited to apply for anything, even for credit one, until the disputes were corrected. It worked out for me. Keep at it!
NFCU has been great so far to me. The customer service is outstanding. I applied for membership, the cash rewards card and loc all same day a week after discharge. Was denied both the cc and loc, reconned both and was approved for $500 on the cc but still denied the loc. I had 2 inquires on TU and EQ for the membership and apps. My expierance id wait a little bit and clean up the reports and then apply for cc, if denied, send a message and see if they'll reverse it. Good luck!
Thanks NewStart15 ... I am that much more inclined to save with them due to them being so generous so soon.afterthe DC and giving me chance. I am definitely going to send a portion of my payroll too them as well .
We are about seven months post D/C now, got the $500 Cash Rewards card a few weeks after D/C (plus a few other cards from other creditors).
Last week I was approved for a $5,000 CL Signature Rewards Visa and the wife was approved for a $9,000 CL Cash Rewards card (her first credit line with NFCU).
The funny part of this is I still can't get a damn CLI on my $500 Cash Rewards card...
