Ocwen-1099-A

I have already filed my taxes and I recieved a 1099-A from Ocwen today.  This loan was included in my Chapter 7 that was discharged in 2009.  The house was sold finally forecloesd and finally sold at sheriffs sale last month.

I didnt think i would be taxed on this since it was discharged in bankruptcy in 2009?? What can i do??

Re: Ocwen-1099-A

You are not responsible for paying taxes on discharged debt.

If I were you I would do two things: 1) contact a tax professional to file your return and 2) research the IRS.gov site for 1099 A forms and what to do so you know what questions to ask of the tax professional. It is important to take care of it the right way so even if you don't typically use a tax professional to file your personal income tax, now is the time to use one.
