My parents are filling for a ch 13 BK and, currently, they are authorized users on my three of my credit cards and I think two of the cards they have asked for socials. Should I be worried for my credit? I was getting mixed messages from their attorneys assistant and she said that she would get back to me on all of it but I am worried and I think that I should cut them off, cancel their cards. My mom seems to think that I should pay them off and close the accounts. Any ideas of what I should do? Should I even worry about it? Let me know!
I don't see why you would have to close the accounts.
You can just take them off the accounts to be on the safe side, though.
Hi sheesh,
Welcome to the forums!
You can leave them on as AU's. AU's credit reports will not impact you, nor does the creditor use the AU's information in determining the cards CL, APR, or other terms. It's all based on the card holder's CR.
They will not list cards on which they are AU's in the bankruptcy. If you and/or they feel better, remove them as AU's. There is no need to close the cards.
