My bankruptcy was discharged in June and I just relaized it says I still have a $1,000 balance for bill me later on my paypal account. It also has a button to the right hand side that says "update" but im scared to see what that does if I press it. I'm a little nervous now becuase I just linked up my debit card with my Checking account with Paypal and I know they do shady things sometimes to get their money. It says current blance $1,034 and $0 due N/A
Your PayPal Credit account has been closed. You are still responsible for paying your balance, and you can still view your statements and make payments online.
(Update) It says ..Your PayPal Credit account has been closed. You are still responsible for paying your balance, and you can still view your statements and make payments online. Would Should I do ? I am pretty sure it was filed in the petition with the account number.
Okay I'll have to get on that. I'm curious why my normal PayPal wasn't closed. I just sold something on eBay and I'm getting the funds through PayPal and then transferring the money to my checking account. Little scary if these people really want the $ bad since they have access to my stuff now.

PayPal and PayPal are two different companies: PayPal is a payment service, all they do is collect payments or send money for you, charging a fee for that service. PayPay Credit (used to be Bill Me Later) is one of the many private lable credit accounts extended by Commenity Bank. PayPal wouldn't close you account because of BK, you didn't owe them any money - they take their fees before they deposit money into you account or the account of whoever yhou send money to. Have you checked you credit reports (CRs)? PayPal Credit/Commenity Bank doesn't report balances to CRs, but they do report problems, such as late payment, collects, etc,, so they likely reported your account as IIB, $0 Balance. I really think it's just a screw up/technical problem that PayPal is still reporting a PayPal Credit balance within your PayPal account. I doubt if you have any problems, but should PayPal try to take any of your funds to pay PP Credit contact any attorney - you'll collect a nice fine/penalty - attempting to collect a debt discharged in BK is a federal crime and big no-no.
