Paying back NAVY????

My balance with NAVY a little over 2000 iib. What are my chances of getting a CC after paying them back. I just opened a checking account thinking to transfer my direct deposit over, do you think that will increase my chances?.
I have a savings account with PenFen as well and waiting my cards to age for a while so I can apply for there CC. I am not sure if I am lucky but bankruptcy is not showing on EQ.

Re: Paying back NAVY????

I would call them, talk to someone in their Bankruptcy department and ask them.
I would probably go as far as to say they don’t really care about $2,000 and probably don’t feel particularly comfortable loaning to you again unless you’ve really built up your score since your discharge.
Wouldn’t hurt to call and ask but I doubt it.

Discharged 7/24/18, and as of 1/9/19 my scores are EQ648, TU638 and EX622. But I am not thinking on applying any soon, just thinking out loud if I can consider them in the future with my build or move on with other CCs.

You might have a shot of applying without paying them back, those scores are decent. The BK is a bit too recent for any good limit though.

Re: Paying back NAVY????

I am not sure if I am ready to push my luck yet, and not sure sure if there is any success stories after paying them back either. But I really want to do most of my business with CUs, I do have an a savings account with USAA but I don't think they are BK friendly as well.
Does it matter if its secured or unsecured?, the reason I am asking is because my wife deposited 500 to her savings and applied for the secured version, the next day she was accepted. Do you think if I do the same and apply for the secured first would
that matter to them as long as it's a secured card?

Re: Paying back NAVY????

I’m discharging about $18k in credit card debt with USAA. If you didn’t discharge anything with them, they’re generally BK friendly. If you did, they won’t let you open any new accounts with them in any form for seven years.

And yes, if it’s secured, that does matter. Much lower risk for the bank. Worth a shot.

Re: Paying back NAVY????

Thanks a lot for your help @jjb0894. No I did not burn USAA but there secured credit card doesn't mature. I am hoping they change it in the future ( they are working on something ).
I have what I need for now and maybe for a long time, but i would love to clear my mind knowing my chances moving forward instead appling for cards i may regret in the future.
