I filed BK13 in July 2009 and was discharged last year September 2014. I think it is so unfair to endure 5 years of payments and still have to endure rejections when you have built your credit back up and they tell you still have to wait 2 years after discharge to get a loan. Don't get me wrong, I did get a decent auto loan last year with a lower than 4% rate from Car Max (which I was shocked when that was approved).
I apped with DCU for a $60k car loan and they denied me because my BK wasn't discharged for two years! Really? My scores have rebounded nicely and I even got a $15k card from Cap One. I just don't want to wait all the way to NEXT July before I can get what I want. Rant over...thanks for reading.
I would shop around for a rate. DCU has a hard rule on 2 years post discharge for ANY of their products.
Just breathe!!!!!!! You've made it this far. 5 years of living through the Chapt 13 (no small feat.....been there!) and are 1 year post discharge. One more year is not too far away........you can do it!

You should read more in these forums, and post questions. We could have told you that DCU has a hard rule of 2 yrs post BK for any credit products, and $60k for an auto loan is a sizable chunk of money.
Yes, $60k is after the 2 trades trades and a cash down payment. The only thing holding me back is this damn 2 year rule. I have asked around at my CU, a couple of other CU's and banks.
they all seem to have this BS rule. I have reestablished my credit, no lates, got the 3 credit cards (that I don't use much, just like I read here). II own my home (mortgage), have paid off 2 cars before prior to BK and my income is well over $150k a year. I do have savings but I don't necessarily want to sink it all on a car.

Thanks for the encouragement krielly. Just feeling a little pissed after seeing people one day out of BK7 get approved (maybe not for $60k) but still. It's irritating.
What kind of car if you dont mind me asking, curiosity is killing me
Have you contacted Cap1 for an auto loan with them? Is LTV in a good spot?

Range Rover Sport HSE. I think I can get at least $18k for my 2 trades and put another $7k with that. With the upgrades I want it put it at about $85K w/tax. I could put down more and negotitate it down more so I would really only need maybe a $45-$50K loan.

Beautiful car! Loan to value should be fine. I would contact Cap1 and see what they can offer. Other than that the dealer should be able to find something for you. Might not be the best rate but you can always refinance later. Good luck!

Yeah, been wanting it for a while now. I slept on it and think I'm just going to wait it out until next June. I filed in July of 2009 so all of that stuff will fall off 7 years after filing.
