Question about a dispute over collections flag which shouldn't have been there at bankruptcy...

Hi all;

so, i'm 2 and a half years removed from Bankruptcy...Credit score is at 640 and climbing quickly (thank god) and I just won a dispute over a bogus collections account on my report (trust me, since bankruptcy I have been a saint with my money) and now that i'm feeling a bit empowered by that here's the situation:

I have an account as a collections flag in my credit report, it says it was signed off in my bankruptcy (Chapter 7)

HOWEVER.

I actually paid that bill. The call came in one afternoon ( years ago obviously) and I was told it was in collections now etc etc - I said is it already on my creport report, or going on it? - They assured me if I paid immediately it was early enough that it would not be reported and would not show, which of course now shows as having been total crap.

Can I dispute this to get THAT removed? having bankruptcy is really the only bad flag I need on my report lol, I don't need false ones too!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum. You can dispute that it's reporting incorrectly. If you can provide proof that it is paid, the acct should reflect paid collection. If you have an agreement in writing that they would remove or not report if paid, then forward that to the CA.
