Hi, I haven't used this forum before but I wanted to give a quick recommendation for those with a recent chapter 7 discharge. I had to search through forums for hours and hours to find which banks/credit unions are BK Friendly - specifically for auto loan refinance/secured card that graduates.
I was recently able to refinance an auto loan with 19.31% interest rate @ 72 months, that I had gotten 6 months after discharge - down to 8.95% @ 60 months with 2 months no payments, only 11 months after my discharge, with Eastman Credit Union. They allow you to become a member from any state, simply joining a $30 association.
The majority of banks/CUs people recommended for being BK friendly on these forums, I got turned down by most of them. Somehow I came across Eastman Credit Union and was in disbelief...I kept getting quotes of 16%+ with the same remaining months. I had even applied for 15+ CU & banks everyone recommended for being BK friendly but was never approved. Only for checking accounts, not a refinance or even secured cards mostly.
Congrats on the refi and great rate less than one year after discharge ! ![]()
From what their website mentions they appear geofenced but that's good if they have backdoor ways to join via associations.
