Ok so I have a sears account that was included in my bankruptcy back in January, but I never used the card at all, so it was still in good standing. Its stated as "closed by credit grantor" and not "discharged in bankruptcy. It is also still updating in good status as of August 2015. Is there anyway to reopen this account since I didnt owe them anything at time of bankruptcy? How does this work?
There is no way to open the same account. They will advise you to re apply.
ok, will i have a better chance since I didnt owe them anything prior to bankruptcy or is it all the same?

As far as I can tell, Sears and Sears MC are Citibank backed. If you had any other cards with Citi that you may have included in your BK (with a balance at the time of filing) you probably won't be approved for a new Sears card. Even if you didn't burn Citi, chances are very slim obtaining one of their cards years after BK. You may try but will probably be denied. Of course YMMV.
I had an account IIB (not Sears) that had never been used and had a zero balance when filing. They closed the account and when I reapplied a couple of years later I was denied. They didn't care that they weren't burned.
Good info, thanks everybody
