Re: Student Loans

No on IIB. The status is correct if your student loans are in fact late and in collections.

Re: Student Loans

In general "federal debt" such as unpaid taxes and student loans are NOT dischargeable through bankruptcy. There are extensions, deferment and lower repayment plan options available but other than temporary extensions (et al) federal debts are very hard to get rid of or wiped out.

It should be noted that Student debt today exceeds that of credit card debt and continues to grow (CC just over $1trillion, Student debt $1.5 trillion).

For student loans, there is an exception, but it's not a given: https://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/student-loan-debt-bankruptcy.html

For Federal Taxes the process is an offer in compromise: https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f656b.pdf
