Student loans in deferment, hurting scores?

I'm 11 mos post DC.

I have a few student loans that i cosigned for my daughter.  They are in deferment because of Covid and the Cares Act or whatever.

The loans are in perfect standing but show "CLOSED" on all 3 bureaus.

Question is, is this hurting my scores since i don't have an "ACTIVE" installment loan reporting?  Would it make sense to get a self lender loan ?

Scores are 638, 642, 652.  They jumped a lot at the 6 mos post DC mark, but have barely moved since the past 5 months.

Unless you need the marginally higher score, then no? If you were to go for one then go a for a share secure via a credit union, and pay it down below 9% for the effect. It'll most likely boost you for just enough time til the SLs re-open.

The loans will re-open someday, probably next year, anyway. Not too long a wait and you are still in rebuild age
