Hello,
Been a couple years since I last posted. I came here for information about BK and credit about 10 years ago. I cannot thank everyone here enough for the information and insight that I have gained here.
In May 2016 I filed Chapter 7 Bankruptcy which was discharged in September. My initial FICO 8 score drop was into the low 600s and I was floating around 700 after three years. By 7 years post BK (when my derog acounts had all fallen off) I had pushed above 740 at all three bureaus and have been floating around 765 for the last couple years. I accomplished this using the information I learned here, being smart about what credit I applied for (and from whom) and, obviously, paying everything on time.
It is now time to watch the BK fall off my credit reports.
The first to fall off was Experian half way through March 2026: F8 770 to 850.
The second was Equifax on April 1: F8 772 to ? (I don't have any real scores to go with this yet, but V3 went from 745 to 833.)
Still waiting on Transunion... F8 769 to ?
The journey is long, but it is very worth keeping to the plan and not allowing yourself to get discouraged along the way.

"The second was Equifax on April 1: F8 772 to ? (I don't have any real scores to go with this yet, but V3 went from 745 to 833.)"
This just in: F8 772 to 850.

Come on, Transunion, you tease, you. It is April!

This is a nice thing:

Wow, that's a great FICO score boost, congrats on your BK finally rolling off ![]()
Wow this is honestly super inspiring to read. The way you stayed consistent and rebuilt all the way from the low 600s to the mid 700s and now watching the BK finally fall off is seriously impressive
BK to 850 in under 10 years!! I'm tremendously impressed, way to go!
Just checked my Transunion F8 on Capital One's Credit Wise. Transunion has dropped the BK as of 4/11: F8 765 to 850.
MyFICO hasn't updated my score yet...

MyFICO has updated. Huzzah!

Congrats on your rebuilding success and winning the myFICO lottery !! ![]()
