USAA - did not reaffirm

Is it true if you have an auto loan with them that you didn't reaffirm in your Chapter 7, they will cancel your auto insurance? I get that they'll cancel it on the car you didn't reaffirm. I bought a different car and insured it through them. I was just dischaged on Jan 12 and haven't been canceled yet.

Also, will USAA close my checking and savings account because of the bankruptcy? Should I move my money to another bank?

Re: USAA - did not reaffirm

I don't know much about CH7s, so I can't offer advice about re/affirm nor insurance, but during my CH13 I was advise to move all my money out of any bank I listed as a creditor.  I think it would be smart to move your money to a different bank.

Re: USAA - did not reaffirm

So the loan and the insurance are both through USAA? In that case, probably a policy thing for them. If you are keeping the car and paying for it, you can always insure with someone else. They can't cancel insurance with another provider.

They might be able to keep your checking/savings against what you owe on the car, many credit unions can, though most big banks are not able to. Mostly comes down to their corporate setup. I wouldn't take the risk.
