adverse consequence to son adding me as authorized user on his credit card?

My son has a Barclay card with a high limit in good standing. My chapter 7 is supposed to discharge today, I was considering having him add me to his card as an authorized user for emergency purposes only which means I won't use it unless I absolutely in a dire scenario.

My concerns are
1) does my chapter 7 in any way adversely effect his credit if i'm an authorized user on his credit card?
2) since his card is Barclay, is there any possibility they may revoke or close his card in retaliation, because Barclay was also a debtor that was discharged in my bankruptcy?
3) are there any down sides at all to me getting added to his credit card as authorized user?

Your chapter 7 and other credit, good or bad, doesn't impact him.   Barclay's won't see your credit report when issuing you the card.   Your son's only risk is if yoyu run up

    his card.

2) since his card is Barclay, is there any possibility they may revoke or close his card in retaliation, because Barclay was also a debtor that was discharged in my bankruptcy?

No, they won't do anything to your son for putting you on his account.   That would never happen with any creditor's card.   AMEX won't issue an authorized user card if you

are on their blacklist.    The worst that could happen is Barclay's could refuse to issue you a card, but I don't think that will happen.

3) are there any down sides at all to me getting added to his credit card as authorized user?
No, unless he runs the utilization up very high on the card or if he misses payments.   But as an authorized user, you can have youself removed and later dispute the

negative account as having just been an authorized user and not responsible for the charges.   The item will be deleted from your reports if you demand it.

Once you have your own cards with decent enough limits, it's a good idea to have yourself taken off the card.   The account stays on your credit report (which is good) and just shows the relatioship as "terminated," which is not a bad thing.   It's like saying it'c closed.

If your son had late payments in the past, it's possible they could appear on your report, but in my experience, authroized user accounts only report credit history after the date the card is issued to you.

It's a great idea to have a card, especially when you don't have any at all.   That's a smart move.
