Im less than 30 days till discharge and I am excite to finally be able to get a credit card again. All my credit reports show everything IIB just waiting on DC to finish this up.
I have burned
Discover (2k)
Cap 1 Plat (400)
Cap 1 WM (500)
Paypal Sync (600)
Indigo (400)
Milestone (400)
USAA Amex (500)
I have a local CU burned aswell.
ATT burned aswell.
I have already somewhat started on my rebuild process and have opened a Self Lender account. When I get DC i will be eligdable for a Self Visa Card.
When I get DCed I plan on getting Navy Fed Nrewards Secured card for $300. I also have started a savings account with a local CU and they will give me a card right after DC with the only catch the deposit is 110% of what I want as a line. Im gonna opt for a $300 Secured line as thats when I will recieve interest payments on my savings.
So right out of BK I will be getting 3 Secured Cards and have a loan 3/12 months down.
I can honestly just keep this going for a year and then get an auto loan or a SSL from NFCU, as I really don't need credit atm, but I do want to build a solid foundation on cards that will not need to be replaced.
So here is my criteria, after 6 months what cards should I apply for that do not require a deposit, has good cash back rewards with no annual fee. my self visa card may only last a year, I am not sure how their system works for when your loan graduates. So I may need to replace that Febuaray.
I am only wanting 4 credit cards and 1 loan. So really I am looking for 1 new card now and 1 card in the future.
well, congrats on the almost discharge lol
I know thosa last few days seem to go by super slow.
The day after discharge I got approved for CapOne platinum 3k, no rewards but no AF.
May main focus after discharge was getting cards with no fee that I could keep for the long term.
Now, the rule with CapOne is that at least 12 months have passed since the acct was either charged off or included in BK, whichever one was first.
So if you just recently burned them, you will need to wait the year. Use their prequal tool.
2 weeks after my discharge, I received a pre approval for the ollo card via Credit Karma, applied and was approved instantly for $600.00. No rewards, but again, no AF.
My next steps, after I have gardened for 6 months or so is Penfed. Read great things about them in this forum.
Because I do not need installments accts, I have focused on credit cards only.
Hope that you find something helpful from my experience.
