Hello,
I got invited to apply for the AMEX Business Gold at 50,000 MR after spending $5k. I am trying to understand why this is a good card with the high annual fee and high APR. What are the points good for? Also I didn't think AMEX reported abs positive accounts to the business credit bureaus either so what's so good about it? Can anyone help me understand?
I mean.. 50k bonus, 4x on categories, business/hidden tradeline, 55k referral limit? pretty good to get at least for the first year
What are the points good for?
its a business card first of all. so it doesnt report to your personal. so it wont drop your AAoA. no UTI will be reported because its a charge card (must be paid in full every month). not a HP if you're already an Amex member (YMMV).
the features themselves are pretty explanitory from the website. I'd do bit of hw to understand how Amex MR points work, and how they transfer over to transfer partners of airlines and hotels (I'd youtube guys like asksebby, the credit shifu or Brian Jung).
the AF is a write off anyways, since it is a business card assuming you have a side hustle or actual business. But if you want to earn MR points and not have an annual fee, the BBP (blue business plus) card is a great option too.
it all comes down to how you spend your money. dont get cards that you cant full advantage of their spending categories.
Thank you for the reply. Makes sense. I was referring that the card doesn't report to the business credit bureaus like Dunn's and PayDex, etc. So charge cards don't report I'm guessing. Makes sense, since it's no limit when I think of it. This is good information. Thanks!
this should help
