AMEX is odd...

I have 4 AMEX revolvers.

Hilton (personal) $3k

Lowes Biz $3k

Blue Biz Plus $2k

Blue Biz Cash $9k

Have tried for a CLI twice in the last year or so and have been denied.

Figured AMEX had set that internal limit for my profile and that was that.

Recently moved some of the limits because I was going to close a couple of the cards....put $3.5k over to the BBC ( now $12.5k) and left the Lowes and BBP with the basic minimum before closing.

So I close the Lowes and apply for a Amazon Biz Prime because I'd like to stop using my Amazon Net 55 and start seeing some rewards for a change.

Approved $14k SCL.

So they deny me CLI's for over a year but the next time I open a new CC they give me my highest AMEX credit limit to date.

Odd.....but I'll take it.

Definitely odd, but in the end, it worked out with your newest approval so congrats.  At least now you have some more leverage to reallocate limits without the need to request a CLI.

Odd for sure....but make sure that they did not help themselves to credit lines on your existing cards to open the new Amazon Prime.

They sometimes will take credit from other cards to open the new cards with a limit they think you will use.

I am aware of that practice from reading these boards.....but they didn't touch my other accounts.
