AmEx Bonvoy - Odd Decline

Hello all! I recently applied for the AmEx Bonvoy business card. I went through the application process and it asked me to connect my bank account. I tried to use my main bank (DCU), but it was just not jiving with their system. I decided to just input another account instead, because it didn't give me any other options besides cancelling my application. Unfortunately, the account I put instead didn't show my business revenue. I was almost immediately declined after I did this.

Anyway, my question is does AmEx always ask to see your bank info for business card applications? Or am I getting this because my credit score on Experian is not quite up to par? I have a feeling I may have been approved if I was able to connect my correct bank account and show the income, but I wasn't asked for any of this stuff when I applied for my Amazon Business Prime card and DCU doesn't seem to get along with their system.

TIA

This is the first I heard of AMEX asking for access to someone's banking account

Were your scores at time of the Amazon Biz app the same with when you applied for the Marriott card?

This is new to me too.  We (dh & myself) recently were approved for 2 more Amex biz cards.  Never have we been asked that.  If this is a new policy (perhaps, perhaps not) it's very new.  It's certainly something to listen out for with others here in the near future.

Which bank acct. have you been making payments with on your Bonvoy Biz cc?  Personal or DCU?  Also, is DCU a biz banking acct.?

There must've been a setting/option you opted-in when you first applied because it appears to prompt you in order to provide access to your financial accounts for review. This is not a requirement btw. It's also an option for personal cards. Some folks have leveraged this avenue in lieu of a solid credit history.  Otherwise, you'll be prompted for this on most applications.

They were about the same. I wasn't prompted to do this when I got the Amazon one, but I applied directly at Amazon's website. For the Bonvoy card, I applied at AmEx.

I have seen that, but it was different when I applied. A second page came up after I hit the submit button on the first page of the application and it said something like "connect your bank to help us continue processing your application." There was also an exit button, but I assumed that would probably cancel the application or result in a decline. I'll probably apply again next month after a couple of my balances report as paid off on my Experian. The FICO simulator says my score should go up to about 689 after that stuff reports.
